Taylor Swift said Saturday she was devastated by the death of a fan before her show in Brazil on Friday night.

Swift posted on Instagram: “I’m not sure I can believe I’m typing these words, but I have a broken heart when I say that we lost a friend earlier tonight before my concert.”

Swift’s statement did not provide any details about the circumstances surrounding the death.

Swift performed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday as part of the “Eras Tour.” She will perform two more shows on Saturday and Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, before heading to Sao Paulo, which begins Nov. 24.

Swift’s performance was captured on video and posted to social media. She said that people need water. At one point, she threw water at someone in the audience. It wasn’t immediately clear if heat had anything to do with the death of the fan.

The Brazilian meteorological service has issued a heat alert for a large part of the country, including Rio. According to , The Weather Channel, the forecast for Saturday is a high temperature of 96 degrees Fahrenheit and 64% humidity.
