Officials said that two children were killed by a vehicle near a Maryland Elementary School on Monday morning.

In a post on social media, Riverdale Park mayor Alan Thompson revealed that the two children had been walking towards Riverdale Elementary School at around 8 am when they were hit and both of them died. He said the driver remained on scene.
A vehicle struck and killed two children near the Riverdale Park Elementary School in Maryland.
According to a post on social media by , the crash occurred at the intersection between Riverdale Road and Taylor Road. The school is located near the intersection.
School officials released a statement saying that there had been a pedestrian accident at the entrance to the school, which resulted in a fatality. Parents could take their children home early, if they so desired.

Prince George’s County, a town of 7,000 residents located a few miles north of the border of Washington D.C. County Police will investigate.
