Gypsy Rose Blanchard is one of the few social media stars to have been convicted for second-degree killing. She has amassed thousands of followers in a matter of days since being released from prison last week.

Blanchard, then 24, pleaded guilty in 2016 to murder in the second degree for her part in plotting with her ex-boyfriend to kill Claudine Blanchard in their Missouri house in 2015.

Gypsy is here! “I’m finally released!” Blanchard posted a video on her Instagram page after her release. Her page now has 6.1million followers. “I’m just sending a short video to say thank you to everyone for all the support I have received on social media. Everybody has been so nice and supportive. “I really appreciate that.”

Blanchard is also promoting “Released: Conversations On The Eve of Freedom,” a book she has written with co-authors Melissa Moore & Michele Matrisciani, which will be released on Jan. 9. She’s also promoting a three-night Lifetime Special called “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” scheduled to air between Friday and Sunday.

The 32-year old has posted pictures of her with Ryan Anderson, the husband she married in prison. She even defended him against online “haters.”

Dee Dee convinced Gypsy she was younger than she actually was, and that her illnesses included leukemia.

One Instagram comment reads: “She’s out of prison, but she is still working 24/7.” The comment was made on a photo Blanchard shared Tuesday.

Some have defended Blanchard against those who call her a murderer.

In 2015, Blanchard and Nicholas Paul Godejohn were arrested for the fatal stabbing of Dee Dee. Blanchard received a 10-year prison sentence in 2016, while Godejohn got a life sentence.

Blanchard’s case was the subject of many documentaries and feature-length films.
