Many people are now in danger of being killed in an earthquake that struck Turkey on Saturday, 7.8 magnitude.

From The Dialy Wire:

Shortly after 4 AM, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey. It was the most powerful to strike Turkey in the past 100 years. Numerous homes and buildings were destroyed by the earthquake. Later that afternoon, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the country’s southeastern region.

Apparently, more than 1,600 people were killed in the earthquakes that rocked the region. They sent tremors as far as Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Israel.

The United States Geological Survey stated that the majority of the affected people live in buildings that are highly susceptible to earthquake shaking. According to the report, “high casualties are likely and there is significant damage.”

The USGS’s early estimates indicate that there is a 47% chance that the earthquake will kill between 1,000 and 10,000 people, and a 20% chance that it could have killed between 10,000 to 100,000.
