A girl, aged 4, was found dead in a Florida canal near a family vacation rental.

A 4-year-old girl in Florida was found dead by law enforcement officials after she was missing for "several hours" when she walked away from her family's vacation rental.

Officials said that a 4-year-old girl from Florida has been found dead in Port Charlotte near the vacation home of her family.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reported that 4-year-old Evelyn Geer had been missing “several” hours after she wandered off from the VRBO vacation rental house of her family.

According to deputies, Greer’s family was staying at a vacation rental house located on the canal.

Greer’s corpse was discovered by officials while searching the area on a boat.
