After an hour of operation, security was restored at the Georgia detention centre after a detainee riot had been investigated.

Authorities are conducting an investigation following a riot at a juvenile detention center in Georgia. The incident occurred after a detainee allegedly obtained a guard's keys.

After detainees rioted at a juvenile detention facility in Georgia earlier this week, officials are investigating.

Georgia State Patrol informs local media outlets that investigators are convinced one detainee took the keys of a guard and let other inmates out in at least a part of the center on Monday during the rioting.

State troopers, local police and police dogs were brought in to make the detainees follow the orders to lie on their backs and put their hands behind them.

The Department of Juvenile Justice reported that another person suffered a chest contusion.
