Georgia State Patrol informs local media outlets that investigators are convinced one detainee took the keys of a guard and let other inmates out in at least a part of the center on Monday during the rioting.
State troopers, local police and police dogs were brought in to make the detainees follow the orders to lie on their backs and put their hands behind them.
The Department of Juvenile Justice reported that another person suffered a chest contusion.
In less than an hour, officers and troopers secured the facility.
Georgia’s 19 youth detention centers provide short-term supervision for youths who have committed offenses, or who are awaiting a longer-term placement.
