After serving 35 years in prison, Louisiana’s child rapist is to be chemically castrated

A Louisiana convicted child rapist was sentenced to serve 35-years in prison and must be chemically castrated when he's eventually released.

An child rapist was convicted in Louisiana and sentenced to a 35-year term in prison.

Ryan Clark, 34, pleaded guilty to the felony charges of second degree rape where the victim is prevented by force or threats to resist, two counts each of molestation and sexual battery of a minor under 13 years old.

On July 16, 2020, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office received notification of an incident between Clark and a juvenile by someone the victim confided in.

Scott M. Perrilloux (21st Judicial District Attorney) stated that the victim claimed the behavior was more than one year old.

The district attorney stated that a second victim was found when the juvenile was being interviewed.

Clark was taken into custody July 17, 2020, on charges of molestation and sexual battery of a minor.

He was also convicted of misdemeanor child sexual knowledge and sentenced to 228 days in prison in 2021.

Perrilloux stated that Clark would serve a total of 35 years within Lousiana Department of Corrections. The first 25 years will be “to be served with no benefits.”

Perrilloux stated that Clark must undergo chemical castration after he is released from prison. He also has to register as a sex ofender and lose all parental rights.

FOX 8 reports that chemical castration became legal in Louisiana in 2008, when Bobby Jindal, the former Governor, signed a bill into law allowing drug treatment for those found guilty of certain crimes like molestation of a child, aggravated and forcible rapes, second-degree sexual assault, aggravated incest, or aggravated crime against the environment.
