Arkansas Snapchat predator sentenced for tracking location of 13-year old girl through app

An Arkansas man used Spanchat to "induce" a 13-year-old girl "to send him nude images and videos of herself, amounting to child pornography under federal law."

According to the Justice Department, an Arkansas man was sentenced to 30 Years in Prison and a lifetime supervised release. He tracked a girl 13 years old through Snapchat’s Location feature.

Officials said that Michael Ray Beam, 32, left a vape in his mailbox to exchange for explicit content.

Snapchat lets connected users see each other’s locations via the app. The feature can be turned on or off by users.

According to the DOJ, Beam used this function to locate the girl at her Texarkana (Arkansas) home.
