Police said that a man was killed in a shooting on the D.C. Metro Sunday.
According to a tweet by the Metro Transit Police, the shooting took place on a Green Line at the Navy Yard Station. The station is in the Capitol Riverfront area, less than a quarter-mile from Nationals Park.
The Metro Transit Police tweeted: “Unfortunately, despite the lifesaving measures taken, the adult male was declared dead at the scene.”
There was little information available about the shooting and the victim. A Metro Transit Police representative directed NBC News’ questions to the Metropolitan Police Department. However, they could not be reached immediately.
According to Metro’s twitter account , Green Line trains are delayed and will not stop at Navy Yard during the police investigation.
