Montana bans drag queen story hours
A report by Breitbart News states thatRepublican governor Greg Gianforte has signed a law on Monday prohibiting children from attending “sexually-oriented shows”.

Drag Queen Story Hour is defined by the law as “an activity hosted by a Drag Queen or Drag King who reads and engages in learning activities while minor children are present.”
Drag shows aimed at children are inappropriate for minors, according to Republicans. LGBTQ advocates criticized the law for being an attack on their communities.
The new Montana law criminalizing expression and art is a warning sign for all. Drag has been used as a scapegoat in the past for transphobia and transmisogyny, says Jonathan Hamilt of Drag Story Hour .
Hamilt continued, “Uncle Sam is in need of a makeover. Our drag community can help.”
Montana has also banned the Chinese social media application TikTok.
Gianforte stated that “the Chinese Communist Party’s use of TikTok for spying on Americans and collecting their private and sensitive personal information, is well documented.”
The governor said, “Today Montana took the most decisive actions of any state in order to protect Montanans’ private data and sensitive information from being harvested” by the Chinese Communist Party.
Brooke Oberwette , spokesperson for TikTok , responded in a press release by saying that Gianforte had “signed a bill which infringes upon the First Amendment rights the people of Montana, by illegally banning TikTok – a platform which empowers hundreds and thousands of people throughout the state.”
She said, “We want Montanans to know that they can use TikTok as a way to express themselves, make a living and build community, while we continue to work to defend the rights our users in and outside Montana.”
