Anheuser-Busch began this decline when it sent a personalized Bud Light can, which was then used by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney to make two social media posts. The company’s customers began to react.

The senior marketers were put on leave and the company severed ties with an advertising agency. According to reports, the brand has hired a GOP-affiliated lobbying firm, Original Advocacy in order to improve its image.

Anheuser-Busch could lose its Corporate Equality Index of 100 from Human Rights Campaign, a leading LGBT advocacy group, due to its fallout over Mulvaney.

Mulvaney said that he was worn out by the negative reaction to the Bud Light partnership. The collaboration with Bud Light began last month and has greatly increased the public profile of the influencer.

Anheuser-Busch, according to the Wall Street Journal has launched a campaign for buying back Bud Light cases that are still on supermarket shelves.
