California authorities find woman in 70s and 6-year-old boy killed during welfare check

A woman and young boy were found dead in a San Jose, California, apartment complex Friday during a welfare check, authorities said.

Authorities said that two people, including a child, were discovered dead in a California house on Friday during a welfare inspection.

San Jose police officers discovered a woman aged 70 and a boy of 6 years old in a unit in the Vista Apartments complex. FOX2 San Francisco reported. According to a family member, the woman and the boy were both shot and killed. San Jose Police Department confirmed that the incident is being investigated under as a homicide.

The motive is not known. A family member told the reporter that the suspect was the uncle of the child and the nephew of the woman who died.

“It is messed-up …” Chinette said with tears in her eyes. “I don’t even know what to say.”

San Jose recorded its 23rd and 24-th homicides this year. Jenkins reported that she had seen the man acting agitated a few weeks ago.

The San Jose Police Department has said that they will be releasing more information.

Vista Apartments released a statement saying that their “hearts are with the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones.”
