Chicago gun violence: 17 people are injured and 4 killed in weekend shootings

Chicago police on Monday said that there were at least 17 people wounded and four killed in 13 shooting incidents that happened across the Windy City over the weekend.

Chicago’s gun violence left over a dozen people injured and at least four killed, authorities stated.

Between 6 p.m. Friday to 11:59 PM, the violence took place. According to Chicago police records, Sunday was the victim.

There were 17 shooting victims and 13 shooting incidents reported. Police say at least four people were killed in violence over the weekend.

A male in his 20s was among those who were killed when he drove southbound on the 200 block Cicero at 11:15 p.m. on Friday. He was shot in the head, thigh, and armpit.

Police said that a 29-year old woman was also in the vehicle and was shot head-to-back and left arm. In critical condition, she was rushed to hospital.

A 36-year old man was also killed in the shooting after he was shot in his back and crashed into a parked vehicle.

Two more murder victims found in the 900 block of West 87th Street shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday. The victim was shot in both the chest and head.

According to police, a handgun was found next to the victim who was shot in his head.

Police reported last week that there were at least 24 shooting incidents and 31 victims.
