CNN has parted ways with its CEO Chris Licht.
Warner Bros. announced that the CNN CEO, Chris Licht, has resigned in the wake of an explosive profile published in the Atlantic which painted him in a less than flattering light. Discovery has announced that the resignation is effective immediately.
Warner Bros. David Zaslav, Discovery’s CEO, said this in a press release. “He has put his heart and soul in the job. It was never going be easy to lead CNN, especially during a period of great disruption and transformation.
Licht leaves CNN just 13 months after replacing former CNN chief Jeff Zucker.

The company announced on Monday that Licht would be replaced by a group of “seasoned programming leaders”, including Amy Entelis (executive vice president, talent and content), Virginia Moseley (executive vice president, editorial), and Eric Sherling who oversees US-based programs.
Warner Bros. reports that David Leavy will be in charge of the commercial division. Leavy has been Zaslav’s trusted aide for many years and was recently appointed chief operating officer. Discovery.
Zaslav spoke to CNN staffers on Wednesday morning during an editorial meeting, according former CNN media reporter Brian Stelter. Stelter was fired from the network when Licht took over.
Zaslav was quoted as saying, “I met Chris and he is leaving CNN.”
We’re currently conducting an extensive search for a new leadership, both internally and externally.”
In an effort to get the network closer to the middle, Licht fired CNN hosts Don Lemon & Brian Stelter. The ratings plummeted under his leadership.
