The U.S. Officials say that the Coast Guard and firefighters assisted in saving two boaters and their cat who lost power on Thursday near Mayport, Florida.
Officials said that the 34-foot sailboat was from Virginia and took on water as it crashed into the rocks near Mayport.
Two individuals and their cat were removed from the vessel by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and USCG personnel around 4:45 a.m. in what officials described as a “dramatic rescue.”
WJXT reported that fire officials stated that the conditions at the rescue were hazardous because of a nor-easter offshore.
Officials claimed that no one was hurt despite the harsh conditions.
