After a video uploaded online by a DoorDash driver, a Detroit Popeyes chicken restaurant was forced to close. The footage showed cockroaches infesting the premises.
“They got roaches, y’all,” said the driver in one of the videos. The video also included footage showing roaches crawling about the counter and around food orders. “Running all over straws.”
The woman said, “I told workers they all just back there. They cleared out.” “They just laughed.”
Fox News Digital was informed by a spokesperson for Popeyes that the store on Detroit’s eastside had been temporarily closed due to the video.

“This is absolutely unacceptable!” The spokesperson stated that it was unacceptable. “This restaurant was owned by an independent franchisee. It has been closed until it can offer our guests the Popeyes standards of service and food they expect.”
WXYZ TV heard from the driver that she was shocked and disgusted by the incident.

The driver stated, “I couldn’t believe they were even open and working under those conditions.”
WJBK TV was informed by a bug expert that German-cockroaches are a “tough” pest that will stay in one area to eat rotten food. However, they likely arrived at the store initially as hitchhikers.

Rose Pest Solutions’ Mark VanderWerp told the outlet that someone has an infestation in their home and they bring cockroaches to work in a bag, purse, or coat. Or it can be brought in by goods and transportation.
