DONTS, DONT, AND DESANTIS: Florida Governor Shuts down Donut Drag Event at FLA High School

Uh, no.

Uh, no.

A Fox Newsreport claims that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shut down a high-school event called “Drag & Donuts” following concerns from local education officials.

From Fox News:

According to a flyer from Queer and Ally Alliance Club, the event was originally to be held at Boone High School, Orlando, Florida.

According to their website, the Rose Dynasty Foundation hosts an annual “family-friendly, charity-based drag queen pageant” called “Miss Rose Dynasty”.

Fox News Digital reached Ashley Rose’s foundation but did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

According to a report by Florida’s Voice, the “Drag & Donuts” event with Rose was cancelled after a call received from the DeSantis administration.

The event was cancelled today after a call from Florida Department of Education. According to the statement, the Department had questions about whether the event was appropriate for children and teachers and suggested that any staff member, administrator or teacher who attended could be subject to an investigation and lose their professional license.

In defense of the incident, the school district issued a statement.

District officials stated that the event Donuts & Drag wasn’t a drag show but a chance for students to hear a positive message about acceptance and love.
