On Tuesday, the FBI announced that two illegal Venezuelan immigrants were arrested for pushing, dragging, and punching a Border Patrol agent in Texas.
Kevin Escalona Gonzalez (35), and Yuleixy Matea Fuentes (27) – two Venezuelan nationals who are “undocumented citizens” – were both arrested on Oct. 31 for assaulting a federal officer.
A U.S. Border Patrol agent was notified that a group of undocumented non-citizens were crossing into the United States at 6:45 AM. A Border Patrol agent was informed that a group undocumented citizens were crossing into the United States. It wasn’t clear how many migrants were included in the initial group.
The agent followed the group to a residential area near Ascarate Park.

According to a press release by FBI El Paso, Tuesday’s publication, the group dispersed and fled. However, the agent caught Gonzalez and Fuentes who refused to obey commands.
They were allegedly resisting arrest and a fight ensued.
FBI stated that the agent was “pushed and dragged by the individuals” during the altercation.
According to the bureau, the agent was able gain control of them without any further incident.

Gonzalez and Fuentes appeared in court before an U.S. Magistrate Judge. They are currently being held at El Paso County Correctional Facility.
Jeffrey R. Downey, FBI El Paso Special Agent In Charge, stated that “The men and woman of the U.S. Border Patrol work tirelessly in order to keep our borders secure.” “Assaults against Border Patrol agents, or any other federal agents/officers, or task force officers, will not be tolerated. Our office will address them quickly so that they can continue their sworn duty of protecting our communities.”
