FBI offers $40,000 reward to American woman who was walking her dog when she was kidnapped by Mexico authorities

The FBI is offering a $40,000 reward for help finding an American woman who was kidnapped in Mexico last year, the agency announced Thursday.

The FBI has announced Thursday that it is offering $40,000 to anyone who can help find an American woman kidnapped in Mexico.

Monica de Leon Barba (29), was abducted in Tepatitlan Jalisco, Mexico while she was walking home with her dog from work on Nov. 29, 2022. De Leon Barba hails from San Mateo County, California. NBC Bay Area reported.

A spokesperson for the FBI San Francisco told NBC News that they believe Monica is still alive but don’t know where. Her family found Monica’s dog on the streets and successfully recovered her dog after she was kidnapped. “

According to the outlet, De Leon Barba’s family called the four months since her disappearance “torturous.” Gustavo de Leon her brother said that his sister was in Tepatitlan at the time she was abducted.

Gustavo said to NBC Bay Area, “Fear, anger and, you know, confusion.” It’s not on camera, but you can clearly see the commotion and a lot more cars pulling up, then speeding off.

Gustavo was told by the FBI that the kidnapper of his sister had demands. He told NBC Bay Area. The FBI refused to comment on any kidnapper’s demands.

According to the FBI, De Leon Barba stands 5’7″ and weighs 240 pounds.

Anybody with information about de Leon Barba is asked to contact the nearest American Embassy or Consulate or the local FBI office.

The FBI is offering a reward to Americans who have gone missing in Mexico for the third consecutive month.

The FBI announced earlier this month that it would offer a $50,000 reward for any information regarding four Americans kidnapped in Mexico at gunpoint after they crossed into Matamoros (Tamaulipas)

After driving into Matamoros to undergo a medical procedure, the four Americans were attacked and taken hostage . Two of them died . The incident was remediated by the Gulf drug cartel.

Mid March saw the FBI offer $20,000 to help with the kidnapping and disappearance of an American woman living in Mexico.

Maria del Carmen Lopez (63), was abducted Feb. 9, from her Pueblo Nuevo home, Colima Mexico. The FBI released a statement. Lopez, a U.S. citizen split her time between Mexico and Southern California. Lopez remains missing.
