Florida drunk driver crashes into a bedroom of a sleeping child: Police

A child escaped with minor injuries when an allegedly drunk driver crashed into his bedroom in Florida overnight on Thursday, police said.

A drunk driver nearly killed a 12-year old boy in Florida after he crashed into his Florida home.

Suzanne Stoker, a neighbor, shared photos showing a huge hole in the side the family’s Cape Coral home after the tragic crash on Friday morning. The boy’s bedroom was once filled with insulation and concrete.

Stoker shared in her Facebook post that her younger brother, aged 12, had previously slept on the wall the truck crashed into.

“The 12-year-old saved his life by having his bed on the other side of the impact!” The neighbor agreed.

George Henry King drove his Ford F250 into the bedroom in Cape Coral, Florida for a 12-year old boy.

According to Cape Coral Police Department, King, 64, was driving under the influence of alcohol and backed out of the driveway across the street. He then reversed his direction and crashed into the house. King’s Ford F350 left an indented hole in the home’s side.

Stoker stated that “he backed up with such force he left skid marks on the road.” According to Stoker, the boy, who was 12 years old at the time of the accident, was lying in bed and was “badly cut by the cinder block that fell on him.”

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, George Henry King (64) was arrested for driving under the influence and two counts DUI with injuries and property damages. (Lee County Sheriff’s Office).

According to booking records of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, King was charged with driving while under the influence and two counts for DUI with injuries or property damage. King was released on a $1,000 bond and will appear in court on April 3.
