Florida panther, 4 years old, is killed by a vehicle

A 4-year-old Florida panther was stuck and killed by a vehicle. This is the 25th death of a panther by vehicle this year.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, it’s the 23rd panther fatality due to fatal collisions. This is in addition to 25 other deaths this year.

Wildlife officials reported that the remains of a 4-year-old female panther were discovered along a rural road in eastern Collier County on Sunday.

Florida panthers used to roam the entire Southeast. But their habitat is now restricted to a narrow area of Florida, along the Gulf of Mexico. There are 230 Florida panthers left in the wild.
