MOSCOW (Idaho) – Ted Bundy’s former criminal defense attorney is discussing the similarities and differences in the horrendous acts of Bundy and the uncaptured killer of the University of Idaho murders.
John Henry Browne was Bundy’s criminal defense lawyer in the 1970s, 1980s. He said that Bundy “haunted” his entire career, to the point that he refuses to talk about the man he called “born evil”.
Several people have made comparisons between the unsolved stabbing deaths of University of Idaho students Xana Knodle, Ethan Chapin and Kaylee Goncalves, and Bundy’s 1970s crime spree.

Browne, a Seattle-based defense lawyer with at least forty years of experience, stated that he sees similarities in the two.
When he was reached by telephone Tuesday, he said that “just the randomness of it” is what makes it stand out. “Of course, Ted’s misbehavior is mostly random. Ted did sometimes follow people, but then decided not to kill them. Ted was a grandiose man who would follow people and then decide not to kill them.

Browne, who spends a lot of his time now defending wrongly convicted defendants or innocent, pointed out how University of Idaho victims were involved with Greek life, much like Bundy’s 1978 murders of Margaret Bowman, and Lisa Levy who were Florida State University Chi Omega sisters.
He compared the crime scene at 1122 King Road with a “de facto house of sorority” and described the victims’ as “really attractive young people.”
Brown spoke to Fox News Digital Tuesday and stated that most crimes of this nature are motivated by power and anger, more than sex.
Browne stated that Bundy harbored animosity towards women because of a splitup with someone he was in college with who he held a grudge for ever.”

Browne continued, “His crime spree, from what he said to me, lasted probably for about four or five year before he was arrested in Utah.” In 1975, he was detained in Utah and sentenced to time in prison for aggravated child abduction. Two years later, he was still facing murder charges in Utah.

Bundy was once more on the run and made it to Florida where he continued his murders.
Bundy was later found to have attacked and killed four female victims and Bowman and Levy when he entered FSU Chi Omega’s sorority house, January 1978. Then he went on his attacks.
Bundy was later arrested in Florida. He was later identified as the wanted murderer.
Browne stated that he believes his client would not have been caught if he wasn’t stopped by a police officer for driving a stolen vehicle.
