Indiana teenager gets 64 years after killing 6-year-old girl

An Indiana teen was sentenced to 64 years in prison fo the killing of a 6-year-old girl.

A teenager from Indiana was sentenced Friday to 64 years prison for the murder of a 6-year old girl.

Anthony Hutchens was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the death Grace Ross, and nine more for child molestation after his conviction in St. Joseph County. He was placed in juvenile detention until his 18th and 21st birthdays.

Anthony Hutchens (16) was convicted for the murder of Grace Ross (6 years old), in Indiana.

Ross was found dead in a wooded area close to her apartment in New Carlisle. Ross was strangled, molested, and suffered blunt force injuries.

The cause of her death was determined to be homicide by asphyxiation. She was also found with blunt force injuries.

Ross was fourteen years old at the time Hutchens died. He was tried as an adult. His lawyer stated that he would appeal the verdict, arguing that proceedings should have taken place in a juvenile Court.

Hutchens must register as a sex offender once he is released from prison.
