After her 2 year old son died and her older brother was sickened, a Indiana mother pleaded guilty to neglect.
According to The Journal Gazette, Kiara A. Johnson (23), of Fort Wayne, pleaded guilty Wednesday night to two counts each of neglecting a dependent.
According to court records, Johnson was arrested when officers discovered her 2-year old son and her 3-year-old daughter in a bathtub in her apartment’s running shower. Her son died later, but her daughter survived.

Johnson claimed she was lying on her bed with her iPhone and fake Percocet pills near her when her children started climbing onto her bed. Johnson then told them to go into their rooms.

Johnson realized that her pills had been missing when she heard one of her children cough. Johnson said that her children were apparently asleep and her daughter was barely breathing.

She claimed that she had put her children in the bath tub at the suggestion of her boyfriend. Officers arrived and pulled the children out of the tub. They administered an overdose-reversing drug to the children, and started CPR.
Johnson stated to officers that she purchased the pills knowing they were not Percocet and contained Fentanyl. The synthetic opioid was found in the pills after testing.
Court records show that her son’s autopsy revealed conditions common to overdose deaths.

Johnson will be sentenced on April 14. Johnson’s sentence is set for April 14.
