On Wednesday, his body was discovered near Pier39. On Thursday, the medical examiner confirmed that his remains were his.

In a statement, the radio station stated that “We are devastated to learn that JV has died.” It was posted on Twitter. Please keep his wife Natasha and his family and friends in your prayers and thoughts.”

The cause of death has not been released by police.

Vandergrift, 55 years old, shared his story about Lyme disease in a Facebook Post last January. He said that although the “physical symptoms” are severe, the microbes can cross the blood-brain barrier and cause damage to the brain.

His wife Natasha Yi posted March 2 on Facebook that he was suffering from “physical torture” over the past two years. She thanked the community and expressed her gratitude for their support.

According to Vandergrift’s bio, he grew up in Fremont in California and fell in love radio in high school. He was 25 when he started his own radio station, the Dog House. According to the station, it was the most listened-to morning show in San Francisco radio history.

He and Yi owned a production firm together, where they produced and edited YouTube videos, short films, and music videos.
