According to an Just The News report, federal prosecutors informed former President Donald Trump and 2024 presidential candidate that he was a criminal target. He is likely to be charged for mishandling classified documents.
Trump’s legal team submitted evidence of alleged witnesses tampering, but it sounds as though the Justice Department won’t delay the indictment.
Sources directly familiar with the matter told Just the News the DOJ refused to delay the planned indictment against Trump so that it could investigate allegations that the senior prosecutor on the case attempted to influence a witness by discussing with the witness’ attorney a federal judgeship.
Sources said that this allegation was still pending before Chief U.S. district Judge James E. Boasberg. He is the jurist that oversees the federal courts in Washington D.C., and the grand jury that meets in the courthouse.
Sources said that a federal grand juror could hand down an historic federal indictment, drafted by Special Counsel Jack Smith, against the 45th President as soon as this week. Trump was already indicted by a Manhattan court for falsifying business expenses in order to conceal hush-money payments to a pornstar. He has pleaded not guilty.

Smith’s prosecution team informed Trump’s team of lawyers in recent days of the possibility of charges being brought against the former President for a violation under 18 U.S. Code Chapter 37 section 793, which prohibits “gathering or transmitting” national defense information. Other charges under consideration include false statements and obstructions of justice. The president and his legal team have vigorously disputed these claims in public and private.
