A video game influencer was in custody after a giveaway in a New York City park erupted in chaos on Friday, authorities said.

Authorities said that a video game influencer had been arrested after chaos broke out at a New York City Park on Friday.

A spokesperson from the New York Police Department confirmed Kai Cenat was being held by law enforcement. Kai Cenat is a popular Twitch and YouTube personality.

There was no immediate indication of whether he’d been detained or arrested. Additional details were not available.

A spokesperson for the police said that there were “numerous arrests” at the Union Square event.

Cenat announced Wednesday on his Twitch Channel that he will host a “huge” give-away with video game consoles and PCs. He also said that gaming chairs, headphones, keyboards and gaming chairs would be included.

The video has been viewed more than 2,000,000 times as of Friday afternoon.

NBC New York reported that the event was scheduled to start at 4 p.m. but was already packed by 3 p.m.

Aerial footage showed hundreds of people in Manhattan’s park on Friday afternoon. Video appeared to show a crowd skirmish and people were seen standing on cars.

A crowd of plain clothes and uniformed police officers was seen around the crowd. At one point, a loud boom could be heard.

Cenat is a long-time content creator, but he’s best known for his Twitch streams, which include pranks, comedic reactions, and gameplay.

In March, he broke the Twitch record for most subscribers after completing a 30 day uninterrupted livestream. This is also known as a “subathon”.

Cenat’s outrageous antics have caused him to get into trouble on the platform. He was temporarily suspended from Twitch 5 times.
