Knox County employees now have access to paid family leave

Knox County, Tennessee, announced that employees can now receive up to eight weeks of paid family leave after birth or adoption of a child.

Knox County employees can now get up to eight weeks paid family leave following the birth or adoption.

According to a county news release, the parents will be paid at their regular rates while they are on leave.

Parents who work together for Knox County may split their time or give eight weeks to the other parent.

County workers had previously been offered unpaid leave for up to 16 weeks.

Glenn Jacobs (Republican mayor of Knox County), said that the change would support existing workers and better recruit new ones.

Knox County, Tennessee announced that employees will be paid regular wages for family leave following the birth or adoption. The eight weeks can be shared or given to one partner.

Jacobs stated in the release that “this policy change is an investiment in the well-being and health of our workforce.”
