According to officials, Peter G. Moloney from Bayport was charged with spraying an insecticide on police officers and assaulting media members.

Moloney’s identity was discovered by a network of ” sedition hunters“, who has been identifying hundreds of Capitol rioters online since January 6, 2021.

Online sleuths were frustrated that Moloney hadn’t been arrested yet, because they could see on his social media that he was on vacation, even though the FBI had known him for a long time.

Even sleuths made jokes about Moloney and his business, joking that they “died” to see him arrest. Sleuths online have identified hundreds more Jan. 6 participants that haven’t yet been arrested.

Moloney, also known as #BlackBonoHelmet by detectives, was number 199 in the FBI Capitol Violence webpage. The agency uses this page to ask the public for help identifying the rioters of Jan. 6.
