Police said that a California woman was arrested with her parents for torturing and killing her 11-year-old adopted daughter.
Leticia McCormack (49), and her parents, Stanley Tom and Mary McCormack were both charged in San Diego County for torturing Arabella McCormack. Arabella was taken to a hospital at August’s end and later died, according to a press release. McCormack, her father Stanley Tom, and McCormack were also charged with murder.
According to police, the investigation started in the early hours of Aug. 30 when sheriff’s deputy received a call regarding a “child with a disability” at a Spring Valley home on Lakeview Drive.
Officials didn’t provide any information about how Arabella was hurt, but they said that medics took Arabella to the hospital and she eventually died.

The police stated that officers began to suspect that the girl was abused. According to Chris Steffen, Sheriff’s Lieutenant, Arabella’s body looked bruised and she had suffered “severe amounts of malnourishment.”
The newspaper reported that Arabella had two younger siblings aged six and seven who were adopted by the McCormacks. Deputies are investigating McCormack, as well as other suspects, on similar charges related the two younger children.

Near the Spring Valley home of Arabella’s adoptive father, Brian McCormack was spotted by investigators. Police said that Brian McCormack, Arabella’s adopted father, committed suicide in the presence of deputies.
Steffen stated to the Union-Tribune that they did not have enough evidence to “outright say” whether Brian was involved. Brian was reportedly an agent for the U.S. Border Patrol.
