A sexual assault investigation led to the firing of a top administrator at the Wayne County juvenile prison.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Mark Roland, Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility’s Deputy Director of Administration, was fired on Friday. He was employed at the facility since September.

Officials are investigating allegations that the facility’s youths sexually assaulted a 12-year old boy on Wednesday. The state police are currently investigating the allegations and seven juvenile jail employees have been suspended.
An administrator at a Michigan juvenile jail has been fired after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year old.
Roland said that he was surprised by the firing. He stated that he was part a plan for improvement as of Thursday.

Roland stated, “I’m not quite sure why they made that decision.” “My hope was that they would have kept their current team for consistency.”
On Friday, Brandon Barber, the facility director was transferred to another county position. Tiffani Jackson, county spokeswoman didn’t give Barber’s position and the newspaper was unable to reach Barber for comment.

The Free Press reported that the jail was overcrowded and understaffed. The prison is confined to long periods in a cell with no showers, school, or recreation.
