Missing Texas dad’s coworkers describe final days before disappearance

Colby Richards, a Texas father who went missing from the Woodlands area on May 26, seemed tired at work in the days prior to his disappearance, coworkers told his family.

Colby Richards was a 31-year old father from Texas who disappeared on May 26 after a morning walk. His coworkers said that he seemed tired in the days before his disappearance.

Richards was up at 5 am on a Friday morning, but he didn’t return to his room to get ready. His wife went to check and saw that the backyard gate was wide open, and that Richards wasn’t in sight.

“I spoke to two of his friends and his supervisor and they said that he appeared tired. He has small children at home. Allison Fox told Fox News Digital that sleep is precious for parents with young children. “That was probably it.”

Fox reported that Richards was employed by an engineering company, and that his coworkers had told his family he appeared to be dozing off at his computer. She told authorities about the incident, and they spoke with Richards’ coworkers.

Colby Richards has been missing for several days since he left his Spring, Texas home on May 24.

The Richards family is continuing to search for the missing 31-year old father of two in the Woodlands region of Texas north of Houston.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deployed search teams near Richards’ Spring, Texas home after his wife reported his disappearance last week. “Fox previously told Fox News Digital that they found a water container of his near a trailhead, in the wooded areas with trails and other stuff behind where the family lives,” Fox said.

In Spring, the Richards’ house on Musgrove Place has a back yard with a gate leading to a street. Across that street there is an entrance for a Greenway Trail where Colby’s water bottle was discovered.

Richards has not been seen anywhere else since the water bottle. Fox reported that Richards left his home without his wallet or phone the morning before.

MCSO spokesperson Scott Spencer said in a Fox News Digital statement that the investigation was ongoing and that “the sheriff’s department is not currently searching for areas where there are no credible reports that Mr. Richards could be in those areas, including areas that have been previously searched by both our agency and Montgomery County Search and Rescue.”

Fox said that Richards usually gets up at 5 or 6 am to go to work. Fox said that Richards had just started working full-time at an engineering company in the area, but he also worked part-time as baseball coach.

Spencer stated that “our detectives are currently in the field and are following leads and information received,” he said. “[MCSO] shares family and community concern about Mr. Richards safety and whereabouts, and will do everything we can to bring Mr. Richards home.”

The Richards’ family has contacted Texas EquuSearch – a nonprofit that helps find missing people – and is waiting for the sheriff office to approve their request.

Fox said that her family has not given up on finding Richards.

Richards’ water bottle was found “near the trailhead, in a wooded area behind where they live with trails and other stuff,” his cousin said.

“My previous request for information still stands. Richards’s cousin advised that you should keep an eye out for Richards and, if anything strange is seen, contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Fox said that Colby would normally wake up at 5 or 6 am for work. He also went on walks early, but not regularly.
