NEW JEERSEY STATE TROOPER SHOOT ON PATROL, 2 SUSPECTS LARGE AND 1 IN CUSTODY

A New Jersey suspect has been arrested after allegedly shooting 2 State Troopers on duty in New Jersey, one of whom was injured.

“Each day, our New Jersey Troopers put themselves on the line to protect New Jerseyans from gun violence. But yesterday, one of our own was victim to that very crime he was trying to prevent,” Attorney General Platkin stated at a Friday news conference. We are pleased to announce that Jocquise Timmons has been arrested for the attempted and ambush murder of two New Jersey State Troopers while they were performing their duty to serve and protect the residents of Paterson.

Timmons opened fire shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday on two troopers operating unmarked vehicles in an area near East 26th Street in the city. One trooper was wounded in the leg after one of the bullets struck both vehicles.

Hours before the shooting, troopers were investigating an attempted burglary at East 26th Street. Timmons was one suspect in the attempted break-in.

This is the scene in which a New Jersey State trooper was killed on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

While troopers attempted to track a vehicle suspected of being involved in the attempted break in, surveillance footage taken from a fixed location in the vicinity of E 26th St. and 9th Ave captured a figure later identified by Timmons leaping out from behind a vehicle and setting fire to officers’ vehicles.

“Brazen ambush attacks on our troopers put their life at risk, as well as those of Paterson residents.” At the news conference, Colonel Patrick J. Callahan (Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police) stated that the assault was not only an attack on law enforcement but also an attack against humanity.
