NY thieves steal over a couple of dozen cars worth thousands and thousands from luxury dealership over night

New York City thieves made off with over 2 dozen cars from a luxury auto dealership in Queens and authorities say the value of the cars is hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to the New York Police Department, thieves stole more than two dozen vehicles from a Queens luxury car dealership on Sunday night.

On Sunday night, thieves cut power to Carsiri’s Queens Boulevard car dealership. They also smashed the surveillance cameras and broke the security gates to gain entry to the office. WNYW TV reported.

Police say that the thieves stole 26 vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This is the second theft of multiple cars at a New York City lot over the past month. On Oct. 13, thieves stole 20 cars at a Jamaica dealership, Queens.

NYPD stated at the time that the car theft at the dealership had a value of more than $800,000.

Detectives are currently investigating whether the two heists occurred by the same crew.

After the first robbery, investigators stated that the cars would likely be sold overseas or used in crimes in the United States.

“Our feeling is based just on the way crime goes, people taking these vehicles, they will use these 20 automobiles in multiple robberies and burglariesthroughout the City, switching plates on-off and off,” James Essig, Chief of Detectives at NYPD, told reporters.

According to the New York Police Department, car thefts have increased by 34.2% compared with last year.
