Jeff Woodke, an aid worker, was last seen in Niger just before his kidnapping in Oct 2016.

“I’m gratified & relieved that U.S hostage Jeff Woodke was released after more than 6 years in captivity,” stated a statement from Jake Sullivan, national security adviser.

The U.S. thanked Niger for bringing him home. Thank you to everyone in our government that worked tirelessly towards securing his liberty.

Els Woodke, Woodke’s spouse, hadn’t yet spoken to her husband, but she thanked all those involved in his release.
