A man from Oklahoma has been sentenced for life after pleading guilty at the request of his wife to the murder of a pastor.
In September, Kahlil Square pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the 2021 shooting death in Ada of David Evans while Evans slept.
Square, 27, said Tuesday that he wanted Evans’ family members to know that he was sorry after he was sentenced.
Evans stated, “If you don’t forgive me now, I hope you will someday.”
Tony Coleman, a defense attorney, requested a sentence of 25 years. He claimed that Square was under the “sinister, manipulative” influence Evans wife, Kristie Evans.
Tara Portillo, Assistant District Attorney, agreed that Kristie Evans was responsible for the murders. However, it is Square who is responsible.
Portillo stated that “finally, he still entered the home of an unfeigned man while that man was asleep and put a bullet in him head,”
Kristie Evans, has pleaded guilty in April to murder. She said she asked Square for her husband’s death because of years of domestic abuse. She claimed that he made her have sex with men while she was watching or joining.
Kristie Evans was sentenced in August to life imprisonment
