OMAR OUT House Votes Controversial Repeal Foreign Affairs Cmte.

The GOP got it done.

It was done by the GOP.

On Thursday, the House voted to remove Ilhan Omar (D-MN), controversial Rep. for making racist comments. The resolution was passed in a 218-211 vote.

Omar stated, “I am Muslim, and I am an immigrant, and interestingly from Africa.” “Is it surprising that I’m being targeted?” Are you surprised that I’m not allowed to speak on American foreign policy? Or that they consider me a powerful voice that must be silenced?

Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) asked, “Why is this member being targeted?” Could it be her religious beliefs? It’s obvious that she would be on the opposite side of the aisle if we were to have this discussion today.

Republican members of Congress reference Omar’s anti-American past rhetoric.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R.NY) stated that “as a member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, we’ve sat down and heard the representative also spew anti-American rhetoric.” I have been in the room where the representative compares Israel to Hamas or the Taliban. It is absolutely unacceptable that a member of this committee would do such a thing.

In the resolution, which is four pages long, the Republican reasons for Omar’s removal from the committee were explained. The resolution states that Omar suggested in 2019 that Jewish people were buying U.S. support. She said “It’s all About the Benjamins, Baby” which was a striking anti-Semitic trope.

Omar also accused Jewish Americans of “allegiance toward a foreign country.” This sparked backlash from Republicans and Democrats, who felt it offensive and anti-Semitic suggesting that supporting Israel was the same thing as being a foreign allegiant.

Omar said one month later that the attacks on the U.S. which killed almost 3,000 people were “some people doing something”. Malliotakis stated that this line was particularly offensive to New York lawmakers and “unacceptable” for any member to say.

Omar called Israel “apartheid” in 2021 and lumped Israel and the U.S. with Hamas, the Taliban and other political entities that had committed “unimaginable atrocities.”

Omar’s removal from the committee was opposed by every Democrat. After the vote, fellow squad member Rep. Rashida Tlaib(D-MI), broke down in tears and addressed the House.
