On Tuesday, the PGA and Saudi-backed LIV Golf announced a merge. This merger puts an end to their bitter geopolitical rivalry.
In a statement , PGA TOUR Commissioner J. M. Onahan stated that “After two years disruption and distraction, today is a historic moment for the game we know and love.”
He added: “Fans can be confident going forward that we, collectively will deliver on the promises we have always made — that we promote the competition of the very best in professional Golf and that we are dedicated to securing the future of the game.”
The news was received with approval by golf legend Phil Mickelson. Mickelson had helped to form LIV after leading prominent players from the PGA Tour.
