Police said that four people were found dead in an apartment in New York City on Monday.
According to the NYPD public information office, the dead included a 1-year old boy, a girl aged 3, a woman aged 40, and a man aged 41.
The office stated that the man and woman both suffered neck trauma; the children also suffered trauma throughout their bodies.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said, “I am not sure how these injuries were sustained.” This is part of a continuing investigation. “It was possible that it was a murder-suicide. But this has not been determined definitively yet.”
The NYPD reported that emergency medical personnel at the scene pronounced the four victims dead.
The department reported that officers responding to a request to conduct a wellness check just before 3 pm couldn’t gain access to the apartment, located on the fourth floor of the Upper West Side in Manhattan.
The NYPD reported that the New York Fire Department helped them to breach the residence in order to reach the victims.
NBC New York reports that three knives were found at the scene. There have been no arrests and no suspects named.
