Police said that a professional climber, who was also booked on charges of criminal nuisance and trespassing, scaled Phoenix’s highest building Tuesday.
Maison Des Champs is 23, and bills himself as “The Official Pro-Life Spider-Man”. He climbed the Chase Tower, 483 feet in Phoenix in just 90 minutes to raise awareness about his anti-abortion cause.
He works for Let Them live, a non-profit that raises awareness and funds for women seeking an abortion because they can’t financially support a child.
Let Them live President and CEO Emily Berning said that Des Champs had climbed seven buildings in support of the cause.

Des Champs was greeted by Phoenix police officers and a technical rescue team from the city fire department at the top 50-year-old tower. It has been vacant since 2021.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller was furious at the act.
This is dangerous. This puts you in danger , and firefighters in harm . Keller stated that you put others walking around the incident or anyone below them in danger. This is an uncontrolled environment. This is Chase Tower, 40 floors high. It is very, very dumb.”
