Prosecutors say that a Massachusetts man plotted a $10K murder-for hire scheme to kill his wife.

Massimo Marenghi, 56, of Malden, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to trying to hire a contact killer to murder his wife, federal prosecutors say.

Federal prosecutors have revealed that a Massachusetts husband, who complained about his wife’s need for a restraining or against him, has admitted to trying hire a contract killer in order to kill her.

Massimo Marenghi (56), of Malden now faces up to a decade imprisonment after pleading guilty, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office of the District of Massachusetts, to one count of murder for hire.

According to prosecutors, Maranghi was charged with meeting an undercover FBI agent in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in January 2021. He “described a situation” he needed to “take care of”, which is his soon-to-be ex-wife. “‘

According to reports, the agent said that they could make it appear like an accident, but it was his call.

Marenghi replied, “Yeah, well. I mean obviously that is the best way.” According to the documents.

Marenghi also provided the undercover agent a photograph of Marenghi’s wife’s home and explained how to avoid detection by cameras when approaching the residence.

Marenghi met again with the undercover agent on Jan. 29, 2021 and discussed how to proceed with the murder of his wife. Marenghi gave $1,500 cash as a security deposit to cover the murder. He explained that the earlier the “demolition job” takes place, the sooner he can pay the balance owed,” said the attorney’s office.

It also stated that he had provided an image of his wife to the undercover agent, along with the color, model, and license plate number of the car. Marenghi will be sentenced in June 8.
