According to a recent report, a Florida man killed his fiancee by stabbing her to death in front of their crying infant after discovering that she was unfaithful.
The New York Post reported that Carlos Diaz (25), a teacher, was in a “blind rage”, when he killed Amanda Hicks (26), then shot himself in the apartment where they lived in Port St. Lucie, while their 11-month old daughter Alani wept in her crib.
Hicks friend stated, “She said that they were working on it.” “But, I think this was an issue among others and he went into a rage.” “A blind rage.”
The couple has been together about three years, after they met at Port St. Lucie School where both had previously worked.

Sources told the newspaper that their relationship had deteriorated and Hicks recently had an abortion when Diaz’s parents became suspicious that he was not the father.
Diaz was informed that Hicks had betrayed him a few months earlier. However, she dismissed this as a minor transgression.

Hicks removed her social media accounts at the same time that Diaz raged. She insisted that the child was Diaz’s after she became pregnant. She aborted it because his family in Stuart Florida,, had doubts.

Friends told The Post that living with his family in an apartment was causing tensions and that her excessive drinking became a source of conflict.
The couple had moved to Port St. Lucie with their daughter three weeks prior to the murder-suicide to try and repair their deteriorating relationship.

A source stated that “they were in love”. Amanda had been in bad relationships before with boyfriends who were very controlling. “But she was so happy to be with Carlos.”
A friend of Diaz told me he no longer wanted to salvage their relationship.
The source stated that “he wanted to have full custody of his baby and was trying out different ways to achieve this.” “She didn’t realize that he was planning to leave her.”

Diaz’s plans went terribly wrong the morning of 26 May. He called the family member repeatedly, but they didn’t answer. A short time later, a neighbor reported hearing piercing screams.
“We thought it was a fight.” The neighbor told the Post that you see a lot of this around here.
Police believe Diaz killed himself at 12:47 am. A Ring camera recorded the sound of one gunshot. Alani was lying in her crib for 11 hours near the dead bodies of her parents before police were called by a relative who requested a welfare check.

The child was crying when they kicked the door. Alani was placed with Diaz’s parents.
Both had minor run-ins with the police before they began dating. Records show that Diaz was charged in 2020 with assault after an altercation in a bar. Hicks, meanwhile, had been charged twice for driving under the influence between 2019 and 2021.

Hicks lost her mother to cancer several years back, and had never met her father. She began teaching to sixth and seventh graders at Dr. David L. Anderson middle school in Stuart, Florida.

A friend of Hicks stated, “We’re all still processing.” “We are in shock. We can’t believe he would do that. The beautiful baby looked just like them. It’s tragic.”
