San Diego suspect in bike theft arrested after playing with Golden Retriever of victim: “I love you too”

San Diego Police Department nabbed the theft suspect who was filmed cozying up to a Golden Retriever named Ace after stealing an expensive bike from a stolen garage in July.

A San Diego suspect has been arrested for a July incident in which he was seen playing with a victim’s Golden Retriever, after stealing $1300 worth of bicycle.

San Diego police announced that the 42-year old suspect, who was not named, had been arrested. He was caught stealing a black 2019 Electra 3 speed bicycle around 10:40 p.m., on July 15,

Anonymous tipsters helped identify the attacker. San Diego Police Department released video footage of the suspect playing the Golden Retriever named Ace, owned by the victim.

The suspect is seen walking out of the garage after stealing a bike. The dog leads him in enthusiastically, wagging its tail and pacing.

The suspect, while petting the puppy in the video, exclaims “You’re my favorite dog ever.” “I love you too.”

He adds, “You are a sweetheart. I want you to go home with me.”

The suspect calls out in the video to see if Ace is nearby. The suspect alluded also to the number of items in the victim’s home garage.

The suspect referred to Ace as a “sweetheart”, and said that he wanted him to go home.

Where’s your father? “Your dad shouldn’t leave the garage open,” said the suspect while rubbing the dog on the belly.

“How can you possibly have so much crap in your home?” The suspect asked the dog. “How did you get all of this stuff?”

Ace was wagging its tail in the garage when the man finally walked away.

San Diego Police Department arrested the suspect following an anonymous tip.

In an Instagram post, the San Diego Police Department stated, “We are thrilled to announce that the bicycle has returned home to Ace, who is a very good dog.” This success is a testament to the power of collaboration in the community. “Thank you for keeping our city safe!”
