The House Majority Leader said that he expects the treatment will continue “for the next several months."

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise(R-La.). On Tuesday, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a “very treatable” form of blood cancer. He is currently receiving treatment.

After a few days where I didn’t feel like myself, I decided to get some bloodwork done. After undergoing further tests and a few irregularities were discovered, Scalise revealed that he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. This is a blood cancer that can be treated.

Scalise said that the treatment is expected to continue for “the next few months,” and that he would return to Washington, D.C. after the House’s summer break, which will end next month, ends.

Scalise stated, “I intend to continue my work in Washington as Majority leader and serve the people of Louisiana’s First Congressional District.”
