Secret Service agents testified at Trump classified document probe

About two dozen Secret Service agents have been subpoenaed or appeared before a federal grand jury in Washington that's looking into former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents, two sources familiar with the matter confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday.

Two sources confirmed on Tuesday that about two dozen Secret Service Agents have been subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury in Washington, which is investigating the handling of classified papers by former President Donald Trump.

Sources say that prosecutors interviewed the agents who were assigned to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago security detail in Florida. About 24 of them have been asked by prosecutors to testify to a grand jury. The sources claimed that all complied.

Sources said that the testimony took place in “the past few months” and not recently because the grand jury was on break.

Jack Smith, a special counsel, has been investigating Trump’s handling of classified materials and other materials since federal agents recovered thousands of government documents at Mar-a-Lago last August.

The New York Times was the first to report on Tuesday that more than 20 Secret Service Agents were involved.
