The federal judge presiding over Donald Trump’s case in Washington, DC has scheduled the trial to begin on March 4th, 2024, just one day before the Super Tuesday primary contests.

Special Counsel Jack Smith and the Department of Justice had initially requested the trial to begin on January 2nd, 2024. Trump’s legal team then requested the date be moved to April 2026, after the results of the 2024 presidential election.

The former President has pleaded Not Guilty to all charges, including conspiracy to defraud the US government, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Trump commented on his recent indictments on Truth Social over the weekend, saying “These deranged lunatics know no bounds” and “sanity will again prevail.”

“The division, anger, and hatred that Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the history of the United States, has caused by Indicting his Political Opponent, who is leading him in the polls, all for the sake of Election Interference, and getting even for the very fertile investigations of him by the Republican Congress. It will only get worse because these deranged lunatics know no bounds. Someday, however, Sanity will again prevail. MAGA!” wrote Trump.
