Shots fired in a fight at a popular Chicago beach cause the closure of this beach just hours after it opened for summer.

A Chicago beach temporarily shut down just hours after it was opened for the summer season after shots were fired Friday afternoon when a fight broke out.

Gunfire on Friday forced the temporary closure of a popular beach in Chicago, just hours after it had opened for summer.

According to Fox 32, between 80 and hundred teenagers gathered at North Avenue Beach, around 1:26 pm, when a fight erupted, one person pulled out a firearm and fired shots.

Officials said that no injuries were reported and that a juvenile was arrested.

The shooting occurred just hours after the City opened 22 new beaches for the summer.

After shots were fired at a popular Chicago beach on Friday, the beach was temporarily closed just hours after it had opened for summer.

This comes after Memorial Day Weekend, when officials were trying to prevent a repeat last year of the shootings that took place in Chicago over the holiday weekend. Nine people were killed, and 42 were injured.

The police have announced that the beach in will be closed for an indefinite period of time and are checking bags at checkpoints on the beachfront .
