Sinema Sinema Slays Dems while Courting GOP Donor Support

A Politico report claims that Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema is blaming her old party and courting GOP donors in order to raise money for her reelection bid. Sinema was elected an Independent in December.

“It’s very early,” said Sen. Gary Peters (D.MI), who heads the Senate Democratic campaign arm. “I don’t know what she’s going to do.”

Polio:

Sinema is racing to raise campaign money and make a statement with her first-quarter fundraising numbers. Sinema has been using a series Republican-dominated retreats and receptions to mock her Democratic colleagues, praise her GOP allies, and in one instance, give the middle finger at President Joe Biden’s White House.

According to senior Republican officials who were directly privy to her remarks, she is more direct in private conversations, whether with one-on-one or small groups of Republican senators.

Sinema’s sniping has pleased the Republican legislators, lobbyists and donors who have taken in the show. It gives some of them hope that they can convince her to join the GOP in Congress or as an independent.

Sinema has been openly slamming her former Dems, critiquing everything from their lunches to the age of their children.

Sinmea stated, “Those lunches are ridiculous.” She told a small group Republican lobbyists in Washington that she was not caucusing or allying with Democrats. “But apart from this, I am not part of the caucus.”

Sinema said, “Old guys are eating Jell O, everyone is talking to how great they are,” Sinema recalled to gales full of laughter. “I don’t really need that.” It’s about an hour and a quarter twice per week that I can return.”
