Soled Out: Foot Locker Draws Kanye West's Yeezys

Foot Locker has reprimanded Kanye West and told outlets Tuesday to remove his Yeezy shoes from the sales floor.

Further instructions were given to stores to keep all Yeezy sneakers in the back rooms, as there will be more information on the product at a later time.

The athletic-wear chain Footwear News reported that it issued a formal statement within hours of the move.

A spokesperson for Foot Locker, Inc. stated that the company does not tolerate antisemitism or discriminatory behavior.

“We remain a partner with Adidas and continue to carry a large assortment of their collections. However, we will not be supporting any future Yeezy product drops. We have instructed our retail managers to remove any existing product from our shelves or digital sites.

Gap also stated that it was taking “immediate actions” to get Yeezy Gap products out of stores following the end of its partnership with Kanye West last month, Breitbart News reported.

Twitter and Instagram have also dropped the rapper, who has won 24 Grammy Awards. Fashion, music, and apparel professionals around the world continue to distance themselves from him and his comments.

Gap stated Tuesday that it had taken West’s antisemitic comments into consideration when it pulled all his clothing.

Gap stated, “Our ex-partner’s recent remarks & behavior further underline why we are taking immediate measures to remove Yeezy Gap products from our stores.”

Further, the company stated that antisemitism and racism are unacceptable and would not be tolerated according to our values.

After a turbulent 48 hours, Foot Locker and Gap have made the dual moves.

After numerous anti-hate groups petitioned Adidas, Adidas ended their longstanding partnership with him.

The company announced Monday’s sacking by saying that it does not accept antisemitism or any other form of hate speech. “Ye’s recent remarks and actions were unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous and they violate the company’s values of diversity, inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.”

After a thorough review, the company decided to end the partnership with Ye, stop the production of Yeezy-branded merchandise, and stop any payments to Ye or his companies. Adidas will immediately cease the Adidas Yeezy business,” it said.
