‘SORRY’ DOESN’T CUT IT! DeSantis Refuses to Reverse Course on Disney Despite Iger Regrets

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t make U-turns.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t make U-turns.

Despite recent revelations that returning Disney CEO Bob Iger is sorry the House of Mouse got dragged into a battle against Florida, Ron DeSantis’ office assures conservatives they won’t be reversing its decision to revoke special tax privileges.

“.@GovRonDeSantis does not make ‘U-turns.’ The governor was right to champion removing the extraordinary benefit given to one company through the RCID. We will have an even playing field for businesses in Florida, and the state certainly owes no special favors to one company,” Bryan Griffin, press secretary for DeSantis tweeted.

From the DC Enquirer:

The statement came in response to a recent article in the Financial Times that claimed that Florida lawmakers are looking to reverse the repeal of Disney’s special tax district that allowed the company to govern its facilities.

The repeal of these privileges came after the entertainment behemoth came out against the Parental Rights in Education Act, which barred the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third-grade classrooms, which was passed by the Florida legislature earlier this year, according to NBC News.
